THE MISSION OF DUPONT MIDDLE SCHOOL is to develop students who are responsible, caring, and self-directed learners, by increasing their engagement in the classroom, and encouraging participation in school-related activities.

Academic excellence is often defined as getting good grades or performing well on a test, but here at DuPont Middle School, we recognize that there are many ways to achieve academic excellence. For that reason DuPont recognizes students who not only perform to the highest standards, but those who show improvement, perseverance, or perform at the highest level of their ability.

DuPont Middle School encourages life-long learning by providing a safe and positive environment that supports each student's unique potential to develop academic and social skills necessary to become responsible, caring, and productive citizens through character efforts and appropriate teaching and learning as outlined by the WVDE.

We envision a school that gives a clear message to all who enter, that DuPont Middle School is a positive place. The school environment will support the staff, parent's, and community's belief in the unique potential of each student to learn and become productive and responsible citizens in a democratic society. The positive climate will also support students in their academic and character efforts through high expectations, coupled with teamwork and on-going evaluation, as they grow and learn. Students will acquire a core of essential knowledge that will ensure high academic achievement, as well as success beyond the classroom. Through the use of technology, DuPont's approach to educating it's students will be exemplified. Responsive communication among staff and community members will set the stage for the implementation of our goals. Students will continue to learn and grow in respect, responsibility, knowledge, skill mastery, and citizenship.
